Em 1977, leciona serigrafia no Parque Lage e abre o seu pr\u00f3prio ateli\u00ea de edi\u00e7\u00f5es. Em 1980, morando em Nova York e com um trabalho que associa arte conceitual \u00e0 cultura popular j\u00e1 consolidado em duas Bienais de S\u00e3o Paulo, se apaixona pelo m\u00e1rmore no ateli\u00ea de Sergio Camargo. Desde ent\u00e3o, \u00e9 escultora autodidata, investigadora da massa e da luz. O seu meio de express\u00e3o privilegiado \u00e9 o alabastro: sobre sua superf\u00edcie transl\u00facida, a folha de ouro faz o casamento do desenho com a tridimensionalidade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dentre as muitas individuais, destacam-se as na Galeria Multiarte (Fortaleza 2016), no Museu de Arte Moderna (Rio de Janeiro 2012), no Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil (Rio de Janeiro, 1999); no espa\u00e7o Topographie de l\u00b4Art (Paris, 2007); no Museu da Ch\u00e1cara do C\u00e9u, (s\u00e9rie \u201cEclipses\u201d, Rio de Janeiro, 2007); na Pinacoteca Civica (Volterra, 2008); no Pa\u00e7o Imperial (Rio de Janeiro, 2006) e as interven\u00e7\u00f5es paisagistas, como a realizada no jardim da Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mundial da Sa\u00fade \u2013 OMS (Genebra 1998), e o projeto ganhador do primeiro premio do concurso internacional para o pr\u00e9dio universit\u00e1rio UNI Dufour em 1996 ou ainda as \u201cLan\u00e7as de Uccello\u201d para \u201cLausanne Jardins 2000\u201d. A artista vem experimentando em diferentes lugares, outras pedras, como o alabastro eg\u00edpcio do Vale dos Reis, a pedra sab\u00e3o de Ouro Preto, as micas do Rio de Janeiro e a selenita do Marrocos. Em 2012, apresenta esses trabalhos mais recentes na individual \u201cLuz de Pedra\u201d (Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro). Em 2016 fez uma mostra na galeria Multiarte em Fortaleza, e tamb\u00e9m chez Simon Studer Art Associes aonde monstrou a obra Maest\u00e0 e fez uma conversa Com Simon Studer sobre as suas origens e motiva\u00e7\u00f5es.Sua produ\u00e7\u00e3o desde a d\u00e9cada de 1980 foi reunida no livro \u201cMaria Carmen Perlingeiro\u201d, lan\u00e7ado em 2007 pela editora su\u00ed\u00e7a InFolio, com textos de Ronaldo Brito e Michel Jakob.
