Vive e trabalha no Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O artista contempor\u00e2neo, em viragem importante, ao inv\u00e9s de simplesmente fazer o sonho contrastar, meteu-se na atividade de mostrar que a diferen\u00e7a estrita entre o on\u00edrico e a realidade, deve-se, t\u00e3o somente, \u00e0 conven\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A quest\u00e3o n\u00e3o \u00e9 de beleza ou feiura, de nenhuma forma o sonho \u00e9 tomado em acep\u00e7\u00e3o de recompensa noturna \u00e0 uma consci\u00eancia tranq\u00fcila, mas sim de notar que o descobrimento da imagina\u00e7\u00e3o irreprimida, d\u00e1-nos conhecimento sobre a elasticidade da nossa realidade, para o bem e para o mal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

H\u00e1 quem veicule que a insensibilidade ao on\u00edrico nos dias, \u00e0 natureza imag\u00e9tica e pict\u00f3rica das nossas paisagens di\u00e1rias, seria-nos \u00fatil, porque assim estar\u00edamos protegidos de n\u00f3s mesmos. Nada mais falso ou imoral. Porque nem sequer somos homog\u00eaneos no que ignoramos e nem estamos condenados a sempre usar o lado cortante da faca. A imagina\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 fardo e asa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protasio se sente atra\u00edda por tais quest\u00f5es que reputamos de primeira grandeza. A aparente dispers\u00e3o de sua obra \u00e9 sentida apenas por quem n\u00e3o reconhece a capacidade da arte contempor\u00e2nea enfrentar as d\u00favidas mais importantes. Se muitos artistas se sentem confort\u00e1veis com a repeti\u00e7\u00e3o de um \u00fanico tema, ou com pequenas mudan\u00e7as, de modo a fugirem da tens\u00e3o causada pelo desconhecido, tal n\u00e3o ocorre na pesquisa dela. N\u00e3o s\u00f3 ela insiste nas mais radicais buscas de material, e de portentosos formatos, como nunca se p\u00f5e a frequentar perguntas para as quais j\u00e1 se sabe as respostas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contemporary artist, in an important turning point, instead of simply making the dream contrast, was engaged in the activity of showing that the strict difference between dream-reality and reality is due only to convention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The question is not of beauty or ugliness, in no way is the dream taken in the sense of night reward to a quiet conscience, but rather to note that the discovery of the unintelligent imagination gives us knowledge about the elasticity of our reality, for the good and evil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are those who point out that insensitivity to the dream in the days, to the pictorial and imaginary nature of our daily landscapes, would be useful to us, because we would thus be protected from ourselves. Nothing more false or immoral. Because we are not even homogeneous in what we ignore and we are not doomed to always use the cutting edge of the knife. Imagination is a burden and a wing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protasio is attracted to such issues as we deem to be of prime importance. The apparent dispersion of his work is felt only by those who do not recognize the capacity of contemporary art to face the most important doubts. If many artists are comfortable with the repetition of a single theme, or with small changes, in order to escape the tension caused by the unknown, this does not occur in their research. Not only does she insists on the most radical searches for material, and of enormous formats, but she never asks questions for which the answers are already known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
